Six Sentence Sunday part two – The Ravenous Dead
So apparently I can’t count and it’s FIVE weeks to go until the release of The Ravenous Dead – gah! Well, can’t think of a better reason to keep up with Six Sentence Sunday. Thanks so much to everyone who stopped by last week, and an even bigger thank you to everyone who commented. (You all rock!)
For week two, Rachel has just discovered a nemesis from her past – a soul devouring reaper named William Grange who killed one of her mentors when she was a trainee medium – has begun claiming victims in Vancouver. Her mother is not so sure that the reaper is in fact William, and tells Rachel to avoid the creature until she can prove that it is him. And if it is, Rachel must still stay clear until more mediums can be sent to help her capture him. This doesn’t sit well with Rachel, as she knows the longer they wait, the more chance William has to devour more souls and then flee. Her mother encourages her to think of Kit’s safety, and she reluctantly agrees. Kit though, has other plans.:
‘ “But you’re not alone.”
She stopped and looked at him. He was perfectly serious. “You’ve never gone up against a reaper.”
“Chances are he’s never gone up against a rodach.” He cracked a grin.
“I’m serious! This is no job for one medium and a rodach who can’t control his transformations.”
“Maybe I just need a little motivation.” His grin widened.‘
Be sure to stop by the Six Sentence Sunday website and take a peak at the veritable treasure chest of snippets available from a host of marvelous authors! Until next week, have a fab Sunday, and thanks for stopping by.
This time the dead are hungry…
Rachel Miller doesn’t just see dead people, she rescues them. As a member of The Order of Rescue Mediums, she spends most of her time helping stubborn spirits move on from the world. But after she learns the details of three brutal murders, she knows the culprit can only be a reaper, an undead monster that relentlessly stalks its victims to feed on their souls.
A reaper once consumed the soul of Rachel’s mentor as she watched frozen in fear. Now, Rachel is in the role of teacher to Kit Elkeles, a rodach just learning to control his wraithlike powers. After Kit and Rachel rescue a half-vampire, they work to protect him while searching for a way to stop the reaper. But when Rachel realizes who the monster is really after—and just what kind of dark magic she’ll need to stop it—will she be able to do what is necessary before it devours one of her friends…or even herself?
